This season’s Championship Game featured a re-match between last year’s finalists, Weston and the Blades. During the regular season Weston had once again finished in first place, losing just three games, and then coasted through the playoff round undefeated. The Blades finished the playoff round in a dead heat with the Etobicoke Wings but advanced based on their second-place finish in the regular season.
In the Championship Game the teams were deadlocked in a 3-3 stalemate going into the late stages of the game. The game looked like it might go into over-time when the Blades’ Craig Tedford banged in the go-ahead goal with just over two minutes left. The Blades sealed the win with an empty net goal by Scott Turyk, his third of the game.
In the Consolation Match the Mimico Old Boys fell behind early 4-1 to the Etobicoke Wings. But they stormed back in the second period, led by Jamie Coon, who finished with four goals in the game, and then held on for a 7-6 win. It was the second consecutive Consolation Match victory for the Old Boys.
